China's Netcasting Services Association released the 2015 China Network Audio-Visual Industry Development Report on Dec. 2 at the 3rd China Internet Audio-Visual Conference. The report says that the number of China's online video users has continued to grow in 2015, most recently reaching 461 million. The user scale of mobile video has also increased 27.3 percent in the past three years, now reaching 354 million. 76.7 percent of online video users watch videos on smartphones, which means that mobile devices have become the number one terminal for online videos.

Based on the statistics provided by China Internet Network Information Center, the report aims to study user behavior, reflect the current industry situation and forecast development trends.

Zhou Jie, executive vice-secretary general of China Netcasting Services Association, explained that advertisements are still the major income source of online video websites. According to a survey conducted among online video users, 53.4 percent can accept a brief advertisement. 17 percent of users have had the experience of paying for a video, which is 45.3 percent higher than last year.

Although 79.8 percent of online video users access the internet every day, and the internet has become their primary vehicle for watching videos, the status of traditional broadcasting media such as television is still very stable; 60.8 percent of online video users also watch television every day. Television is still an irreplaceable part of netizens' lives.
