On Oct. 1, 2015, an elderly man entered a noodle restaurant in Xi’an and started to eat unfinished noodles left on a table. The hostess of the shop saw the scene and gave the old man another bowl of noodles. All of this was photographed by a netizen nearby. After he posted the photos online, many people came to the noodle restaurant to eat the noodles, as a way of praising the hostess's good deed.

According to the witness, when he arrived at the noodle restaurant for lunch, some of the tables had not yet been cleared. Then an old man came by started to eat the leftovers at one of the tables. "When the hostess came over, I thought she wanted to ask him to leave. I did not expect that she gave him a bowl of noodles and say it's on the house," the man said.

During the following-up interview, the hostess says that there are always homeless people coming by to eat leftovers. A bowl of noodles may mean nothing to the owner, but for them it means a great deal. "I did not know that this would be put online, and I could never imagine t so many people would come to support me. I was just wondering why there were so many people this afternoon," said the hostess.
