China has pledged to cooperate with the United States on law enforcement and investigation of drug trafficking.

This comes after the U.S. arrested 151 people allegedly involved in a China-Middle East synthetic-drug network and seized 10,000 kilogram of synthetic marijuana, most of which was imported from China.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying says China will cooperate with the U.S. in this investigation.

She says China takes the issue of illicit drugs very seriously.

"On the aspect of drug enforcement cooperation, firstly, Chinese government has consistently fought against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. We've always taken active and responsible attitude to cooperating with other countries including the United States on dealing with drug problems."

According to the spokeswoman, the two countries are also cooperating on reducing the need for drugs, including rehabilitation and recovery.
