The AIIB would finance infrastructure projects in Pakistan, said Jin Liqun, the president-designate of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), in Islamabad Wednesday.

Pakistan is one of the prospective founding members of the AIIB in Asia. It is also the first middle-income prospective founding member of the AIIB he visited after he became the president-designate of the AIIB, Jin said.

The fact that the AIIB has 57 prospective founding members shows the international society’s confidence for it. The AIIB will play an important role in meeting regional infrastructure needs, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said during a press conference.
