China witnesses 0.7 per 100,000 people murder cases in 2014, which equals to that of Swiss, one of the safest countries in the world, said Meng Jianzhu, top leader in charge of political and legal affairs on Sept.24.

The number of murder cases in China is less than that in developed countries like the U.S., France and the UK, said Meng on a work conference of the national public security prevention and control system construction held in Dalian, Liaoning province Thursday.

According to statistics, there are 0.7 murder cases in every 100,000 people in China, German and Swiss in 2014, followed by the U.K., France, Canada, India, the US, Russia and Brazil, 1, 1.2, 1.4, 3.3, 3.8, 9.0 and 26.5 respectively.

Meanwhile, cases of eight kinds of serious violent crimes including arson, bombings, abduction, murder, mayhem, rape, crime of pillage and kidnapping see constant decrease in 2014 in China.

Information released by China's Ministry of Public Security shows that the number of registered crime cases from January to March in 2015 saw a 15.6 per cent year-on-year decline.
