    White collar woman sells good night message, US$0.16 each

    If you cannot fall asleep without hearing a good night, a woman from southern China might help you.

    Four years ago, a female white-collar worker named Jiu Mei in Guangzhou began to sell good night messages to strangers at a price of 1 yuan (US$0.16) each.

    She said that people need rituals in life. Selling good night messages to stranger is a fun way to interact with other, sharing stories with each other.

    "Life in the city is always impersonal and materialistic. There is a lack of human interaction and exquisite rituals in everyday life, such as saying ‘good night’ to friends and family," Jiu Mei explained her motivation.

    So far 200 people have bought a good night from her, and she claimed that she has earned more than 3,000 yuan from the service. Most of her customers buying goodnight messages for their loved ones. Others were just out of curiosity. So far, no one has ordered the services for parents.

    "Actually, I want to send the SMS only to those who really need affection," said Jiu Mei.

    Although she did not earn too much, Jiu Mei will continue to do so. "I'll hold on to it and encourage all others who want to say ‘good night’ to strangers," she said.
