An Audi car hit several people in downtown Beijing on Wednesday night, and the driver is in police custody, local police announced.

The accident happened around 8:10 p.m. at Xuanwumen. The injured people have been sent to hospital and are all in stable condition, police said.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
