    Celebrating 37th birthday, "Jia Jia" becomes the oldest captive panda in the world

    Giant panda "Jia Jia" celebrates the 37th birthday in Hong Kong Ocean Park on July 28, refreshing the record of the oldest captive giant panda in the world. (CNS/Zhang Yu)

    "Jia Jia" was born in 1978 in Sichuan. It had been pregnant five times and gave birth to six pandas. "Jia Jia" is now 12 years older than the average life expectancy of a giant panda, equivalent of 110 years old of human being. It is currently suffering from high blood pressure and joint pain.
