The first shale gas well in Henan province, which is located in Xiangfu district, Kaifeng city, has achieved steady gas flow, according to Henan Provincial Department of Land and Resources.

This is the first time that China has discovered shale gas in urban planning area. The gas field has a technical recoverable reserve of 12.75 billion cubic meters, according to the department.
