Military inspectors nab another "tiger" in graft probe

BEIJING, July 10 -- People's Liberation Army (PLA) disciplinary inspectors on Friday said they have put Deng Ruihua, former political commissar of the joint logistics department of Lanzhou Military Area Command, under investigation for alleged"serious violations of discipline and laws."

Deng's case has been transferred to military prosecutors, the PLA Daily reported on its official account on Sina Weibo, China's Twitter-like social networking platform.

His fall brings the number of military officers busted by army discipline inspectors in China's anti-corruption campaign to38.

Corruption within the 2.3-million-strong armed forces has raised alarm among authorities and the public, fueling concern that the military's combat power could be undermined and national defense development hindered.

The biggest military "tigers" - high-ranking officials in contrast to lowly "flies" - caught in the anti-graft drive include Xu Caihou, former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission(CMC).
