    Beijing’s and Shanghai’s subway system stretch over 500 kilometers

    In 2020, around 50 cities in China will have subway. It is said that the construction of a subway line can create 2,000 jobs for a city, and it’s predicted that the construction of 2,000 kilometers subway system can create more than 100,000 jobs.

    The State Council has approved 39 cities to construct subway system whose length will add up to 7,300 kilometers, said Li Guoyong, an official of National Development and Reform Commission.

    Twenty two cities have opened subway system, among which both Beijing’s and Shanghai’s subway system stretch over 500 kilometers. It’s predicted that investment in national urban railway system will reach 300 billion yuan in 2015, added Li.
