Chinese investors have become the second-largest buyer of French wineries, according to a report issued by a French wineries’ real estate company.

The area of vineyards in France purchased by foreign investors has reached 120 square kilometers. Of this, 21 percent has been acquired by Chinese investors, which is just one percent behind Britain (22 percent).

The survey shows that almost all the vineyards bought by Chinese purchasers are concentrated in the Bordeaux Region. Chinese investors have purchased 47 percent of all the 193 vineyards bought by foreigners in this region. Conversely, British investors have a preference for Languedoc region, and the areas they invest in are more widely dispersed.
