    China, Vietnam pledge to boost law-enforcement cooperation

    BEIJING, April 8 -- Senior Chinese official Meng Jianzhu met with Vietnam's Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang on Wednesday and they pledged to boost law-enforcement cooperation between the two countries.

    Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said the Chinese side stands ready to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries to promote security and stability in the region.

    Quang said Vietnam will work with the Chinese side to strengthen and improve the mechanism of law-enforcement and security cooperation to cement the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

    Quang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, is accompanying General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, who is paying an official visit to China from Tuesday to Friday.
