BUDAPEST, March 24-- Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary on Tuesday denied receiving any notification, official or unofficial, that Russia planned to end its embargo on farm products imports.

Gyula Budai, ministerial commissioner for foreign business measures related to Russia's embargo, issued a statement denying that either the ministry or chief veterinarian Lajor Bognar had received any news from Moscow, regarding an end to the embargo.

Budai cited the Interfax Russian wire service which reported that Russia's official veterinary and plant protective service was considering sending specialists to Hungary, Greece and Cyprus to determine whether it could resume imports of farm products from these countries.

Budai underlined that Hungary was adhering to European Union sanctions but would be happy to receive the Russian specialists if the news was true. Hungarian farmers, he said, are ready to resume exports which was costing them 70 million forints (nearly 254,000 dollars) a day.

Interfax was quoting Sergei Dankvert, chief of Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's agriculture watchdog, who said last week that Hungary, Greece and Cyprus would be the first countries whose farm products Russia would import after the embargo was relaxed.
