HEFEI, Jan. 31-- Five miners have been killed and two others remain trapped in a flooded coal mine in east China's Anhui Province, local authorities said Saturday.

The accident happened in a shaft of Zhuxianzhuang coal mine in Yongqiao District under Suzhou City at 6:55 p.m. Friday when 34 miners were working underground. Twenty-seven miners managed to escape while seven others were trapped, according to Huaibei Mining (Group) Co. Ltd., the owner of the coal mine.
