HONG KONG, Dec. 29-- A Hong Kong resident was among the people onboard AirAsia Flight QZ8501 which disappeared en route from Indonesia to Singapore, Hong Kong's Immigration Department said Monday.

The department said Chi-Man Choi, 48, was on the plane with his two-year-old daughter.

The department confirmed he is a Hong Kong resident, holding a British passport.

The Airbus A320, which took off Sunday morning from Surabaya in Indonesia's East Java province, was about halfway to Singapore when it vanished from radar. A total of 155 passengers and seven crew members were onboard, including 16 children and an infant.
