Trieste, November 24 - Insurer Generali Italia has won the contract to provide civil liability and damage insurance for Milan Expo 2015.

The coverage will be provided through its Global Corporate and Commercial business unit.

"The partnership with Generali is a guarantee for Expo Milan 2015," said Expo commissioner Giuseppe Sala.

"The insurance instruments developed for the universal exhibition allow us to work with serenity on the construction and organization of the event, and will be critical during the six months of the event, to give to the 20 million expected visitors an extraordinary experience, in complete safety," said Sala. The contract will require Generali to cover damage to property, contents of various exhibitions as well as liability insurance during the final construction phase of the world's fair that begins on May 1 and continues for six months.

The insurance contract also covers Milan Expo for the next 10 years.
