HOHHOT, Nov. 24 -- Police in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have arrested 31 suspects allegedly involved in women trafficking, saving 14 victims including 11 from Myanmar.

Among the foreign victims, five are under 18 years old and have been transferred to Myanmar police, a police officer with the railway public security department of the region's Baotou City said Monday.

Police busted the gang after a woman turned to a police officer for help during a train journey from Baotou to Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province, on Aug. 26. She said she had been abducted from Myanmar to China. Police caught the abductor after he tried to drag her away.

Following the investigation, police travelled across five provinces in the next three months and arrested 30 other suspects allegedly involved in the gang.

The suspects lured the victims by offering tours or jobs before selling them in China's remote rural areas as wives, with prices ranging from 50,000 yuan (8,150 U.S. dollars) to 90,000 yuan. The total sum in connection with the cases reached 1.925 million yuan, according to the police officer.

    Further investigation is under way.
