The National Development and Reform Commission recently approved a feasibility report on the construction of a new airport in Ankang City.

The new airport proposed will be located in Fuqiang Town in Hanbin District, about 15 kilometers northwest of downtown Ankang.

Once completed, the airport will be able to handle 300,000 person-times each year; the floor area of its terminal buildings will be 5,500 square meters; the total length of its runways will be 2,600 meters; it will be able to accommodate medium-sized airplanes like the Airbus A320

With total investment of 1.45 billion yuan, the construction of the new airport will begin early next year and it will be completed and put into operation in 2019.
