    Chinese envoy to attend Mauritanian presidential inauguration ceremony

    BEIJING, July 31 -- A senior Chinese official will attend Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz's inauguration ceremony on Aug. 2 in Mauritania, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced on Thursday.

    Li Bin, head of the National Population and Family Planning Commission, will attend the event as Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy, Qin said.

    Abdel Aziz won the presidential re-election in June.
