On the 38th World Heritage Conference, the "Chang’an - Tianshan corridor" cultural heritage projects along the Silk Road were included into List of World Heritage Sites, among which there are 22 heritage sites from Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu and Xinjiang provinces of China.

Seven heritage sites of Shaanxi Province were enrolled into the List of World Heritage Sites including the Weiyang Palace Site in Chang’an City of the Han Dynasty, the Daming Palace Site in Chang’an City of the Tang Dynasty, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xingjiao Temple, the Tomb of Zhang Qian, and the Giant Buddha Temple Grotto of Bin County, making Shaanxi Province become the owner of 8 World Heritage Sites, rather than the owner of only one World Heritage Site, which was the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum.
