KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib announced that the two giant pandas from China Fu Wa and Feng Yi are officially renamed “Xingxing”and “Liangliang”.

Najib made the announcement at a ceremony in the Giant Panda Conservation Centre Wednesday.

He said the new names are selected from about 2,000 suggestions received during the competition, and will be their’ Malaysian names in the next decade.

The pandas are in Malaysia marking the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and .Malaysia.

They arrived in Malaysia on May 21 and will meet the public on June 28 after quarantine.
