    Britain Opens Bidding in China for High-speed Rail Link

    Chinese companies have been invited to bid on a new high-speed rail line in England.

    Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne made the announcement on Thursday in Chengdu.

    The High Speed Two project aims to create faster links between London and cities to the north, starting with Birmingham.

    The contract is worth 18 billion US dollars.

    Osborne has led a delegation of senior ministers and business representatives on a week-long trip to China to strengthen economic and financial ties.
