A dozen foreign automakers are feeling the effects of last Wednesday's explosions in Tianjin.

Both Toyota and John Deere have suspended their factory operations near Tianjin port after many of their staff were injured in the blasts.

Toyota says it won't be restarting its operations in Tianjin until at least Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Renault has announced that around 1,500 of its cars were damaged in the blasts.

Other foreign brands including Volkswagen and Mitsubishi have reported severe damage.

It is estimated that the total loss for the automakers concerned hits over 2 billion yuan, or over 310 million US dollars.

Tianjin, China's fourth-largest port, handles around 40 percent of China's auto imports.
