    China's new media energetic: report

    BEIJING, July 22 -- Among the world's emerging countries and regions, China has one of the most energetic new media sectors, according to a report published by Xinhua News Agency on Tuesday.

    In 2013, new media obtained a prominent presence in China's overall media industry and provided a new avenue for social progress, said the report, released by Xinhua's New Media Center at a workshop.

    It analyzes the trends, innovations, technologies, finance, security and management issues regarding new media convergence.

    The workshop was attended by Wang Zhongwei, deputy secretary-general of the State Council, Ren Xianliang, vice director of the State Internet Information Office, Shen Haixiong, Xinhua's vice president, as well as over 200 academics and representatives from Internet businesses and media organizations.
